Company Canario

Throughout the modern world, music of the previous ages is becoming more and more popular. In times gone by, music, dance and theater were an essential part of everyday life. Drawing on the peace, elegance and beauty of those ages can bring true relief in today's stressed and fast-paced world.

Company Canario Historic Dance Ensemble was established in 1992 with the aim to present the more traditional and popular music from way back, the dances of past periods, in conjunction with representative dress providing a unique, multifaceted experience for concert audiences.

The dancers of the ensemble are comprised of four couples coming from varied Hungarian folk dance and ballet backgrounds or performing companies. The choreographic and performances are based on original dance publications, portraying the European Renaissance Baroque period, the XIX century ball dances; all presented as a dance theater adaptation.

The ensemble is regularly invited to participate at the annual Budapest Spring Festival, Zempleni Art Days, and Baroque Festivals in Gyor, Papa, Tata, and Central-European Old Music Festival. Company Canario performs at Godollo Royal Castle on a regular basis, and at the Nagyteteny Castle Museum, Budapest History Museum and often collaborates with the Budapest Chamber Opera performances.
